Oh my. I almost choked on my toast while reading my breakfast newspaper. Forget about Emily Dickinson, kind sir. You are related to Taylor Swift!
Apparently, Ancestry.com has revealed that the pair are descended from a 17th-century English immigrant who settled in Windsor, Conn. This person is Dickinson's sixth great-grandfather and Taylor's ninth.
I can only imagine Taylor's surprise and delight when she discovers she is related to Douglas Glover!
She emailed me yesterday, first thing. Her people and my people are setting up a meeting, though I am booked through May. We'll see how this plays out.
FamilySearch says I'm related to Emily as well, so perhaps you and I are distant cousins too. I suppose it's not a stretch to imagine one of my Pennsylvania Mennonite ancestors getting friendly with one of your New Jersey Puritans, maybe a fraktur painter and a stained-glass artist or something....
I have grown tired of FamilySearch's alerts. A) I seem to be related to everybody through Emily (and she didn't have any kids). B) They just keep relentlessly inundating me with new famous people. People I don't particularly want to be related to. But you I'll take. Coz.
I'm sure she did too. I shouldn't make fun of it. But it seems so alien. And she doesn't say anything to make Judgment sound attractive. A lot of pathos in such beliefs.
Sigh. Wish this announcement hadn't followed so closely upon mine. If I didn't know her better, I'd suspect that Taylor was trying to steal my thunder.

Hahahahahaha. Lots of time to practise your singing, I guess. ( And to think Jacob was hoping you were related to Shakespeare....)
Keep on catching those poets as they fall:)!!
Wow, you read that fast! Thanks.
How could I not: a Glover grandparent Em??!

Came to say something about TS but it’s already been said. Taylor’s Version.
Fun emailing the dead. I'm sure she believed in another life. Certainly believe in sparks. Prego.
