I started with short stories, just aching to write one good enough for someone to think it worth publishing. Now I am at the stage Davy Crockett reached just before he died at the Alamo; it might be apocryphal, but he is supposed to have written a letter in which he said, "I have great hope of writing one more book." One of my favourite lines. (Also, you can just keep saying it after each book.)
