Astonishing photos! Did you ever read Wilson's Bowl.Phyllis Webb? Her poem about a similar bowl on Salt Spring Island.

I ordered a copy yesterday. Thank you. I did not know it. Also thanks re the photos. I content is astonishing, yes, but the photos themselves not so much. I wish they were better, but they still help to keep my memories fresh.

Glad to hear! Phyllis took me to Wilson's Bowl on a friend's property near Fulford Harbour, Salt Spring, if I remember right... decades ago... but still etched in mind. A pilgrimage.

Was intrigued by the pic of the Carib Stone in an earlier post so it is wonderful to read this detailed account here.

Completely relate to map myopia, confusion, partial views and figuring things out by feel.

Also, a beautifully written final paragraph by Chamoiseau (name roughly translates, maybe, to room of bird[s]), "bearing the unknown tablets of a new poetry".

Chamoiseau is an amazing writer. I'm glad you admired that paragraph. The unknown poetry and a new idea of humanity, one of the hopeful themes of Caribbean thought.
